The Neilson Nutshell is Bell Shakespeare’s flagship performance space located at Pier 2/3, in the heart of the Walsh Bay Arts Precinct. Steeped in Sydney’s industrial history, Pier 2/3 houses Bell Shakespeare’s new premises combining the heritage features of Pier 2/3 with the contemporary needs of artists and audiences.
Bell Shakespeare is Australia’s national theatre company specialising in the works of Shakespeare and his contemporaries. With unrivalled reach and impact Bell Shakespeare delivers mainstage productions and an education and outreach program to every state and territory, ensuring classic theatre experiences are accessible to all Australians.

The Neilson Nutshell is located at Pier 2/3, 13A Hickson Road, Dawes Point, NSW 2000.
It is a brisk 15-20 minute walk from Circular Quay and Wynyard transport hubs. Hickson Road is serviced by the 324 and 325 bus service or the 311 to Millers Point. Pedestrian and cycle paths service Walsh Bay Arts Precinct from Barangaroo to Circular Quay. Metred parking is available on Hickson Road, Pottinger Street and Lower Fort Street and paid off-street parking can be found at 26 Hickson Road (Interpark) and at the corner of Towns Place and Hickson Road (Wilsons).
The entrance to The Neilson Nutshell is located midway down Pier 2/3. The Neilson Nutshell is located on Level One and is accessible by both stairs or lift.

BATHROOMS
There are gendered bathrooms and a gender neutral, accessible bathroom available on Ground Floor and Level One.
The accessible bathroom on Level One is 1.2 metres x 2.7 metres, and it features inclusive fixtures, handrails, a distress button and a baby-changing station.
ACCESS NEEDS
Accessible seating is available at the venue. Please contact Sydney Festival to arrange this when booking tickets.
The venue is wheelchair accessible. Wheelchairs and walkers can be stored in the cloak room if needed.

LIFTS AND STAIRS
Lift access to the venue is available. The lift dimensions are 1.4 m x 2 metres. The entry is 1 metre wide. Lift capacity is 18 people and 1350kg.
If not using the lift, there are two flights of wide set stairs with no-slip stairs and handrail.
The curb on Hickson Road cuts to allow for step-free access onto the Pier.
