An intricate tapestry of First Nations expression
Moogahlin Performing Arts & Belvoir St Theatre

Yuwalaaraay/Yorta Yorta composer and performer Warren Mason of Tin Camp Studios loops the natural sounds of his homeland, haunting tune of his guitar, the spoken word of multiple languages and singing styles of his old people. Creating an intricate tapestry of sound interwoven with movement choreography by Jasmine Gulash (Gubbi Gubbi), performed by senior dance women Jo Clancy (Wiradjuri) and Aunty Bronwyn Spearim-Hoy (Gomeroi), tracing tracks leading back from the past.

Healing Scars is an in-development expression of the self-healing journey First People take in reconciling the grief of loss from injustice crossing multiple lifetimes, performed as part of Yellamundie Festival.

YELLAMUNDIE FESTIVAL

Taking its name from the Darug word for storyteller, Yellamundie Festival identifies, develops and presents new First Peoples stories for the stage – providing a range of development opportunities for playwrights, composers and movement directors at an international level.

From a national call for submissions, six new works undergo two weeks of development and are presented in a three-day festival of public showings, yaans and events in Sydney.
