Located on the waterfront in Darling Harbour, the Australian National Maritime Museum is Australia’s museum of the sea. As an island nation that has been shaped by sea, the museum tells stories about the nation’s saltwater and freshwater history.
It offers an indoor and outdoor experience for visitors that is unique in Sydney. The museum wharves are home to a fleet of beautifully-restored heritage vessels including the replica tall ships HMB Endeavour and Duyfken, the submarine HMAS Onslow, destroyer HMAS Vampire and it even has its own lighthouse.
Inside the museum are exhibitions and galleries that tell compelling stories of life in, on and under the sea. The museum covers areas of First Nations and European maritime history, ocean science and migration.
