Cuban pianist Harold López-Nussa is rapidly building a global following in jazz and beyond. He reflects the full range and richness of Cuban music, with its distinctive combination of classical, folkloric and popular elements.
His tight-knit quartet features harmonica titan and Grammy winner Grégoire Maret (who has worked with include Herbie Hancock, Elton John and Prince), bassist Luques Curtis and López-Nussa's drummer brother Ruy Adrian López-Nussa. López-Nussa has performed at The Kennedy Center, SFJAZZ Center and the most esteemed jazz festivals in the world.
Born and raised in Havana, Cuba, López-Nussa has lived a life immersed in music. Taking inspiration from his homeland’s rich lineage, he has become one of the most accomplished pianists and composers in the world of Latin jazz.
In 2023, he released a vibrant new album, Timba a la Americana – his first on legendary jazz label Blue Note Records. Over ten evocative songs, he channels the emotions of leaving Havana to pursue a new life with his family in France. Alongside producer Michael League, he explores new instruments, influences and danceable rhythms to evolve his beloved genre.
López-Nussa is a dazzling live performer, and onstage with his trusted rhythm section, they deliver a masterclass in the possibilities within Latin jazz.
"The future of Latin jazz."
